Radar is a system that uses radio waves to determine the range, angle, or velocity of objects. It is object detection technique. It is used to detect aircraft, ships, spacecraft, guided missiles, motor vehicles, weather formations, and terrain. Radar transmitter transmits radio waves or microwaves that reflect from any object in their path. A receive radar, which is a same system as the transmit radar, receives and processes these reflected waves to determine properties of the objects. Radar technology was developed by several nations during World War II. The term radar has since entered English and as a common noun, losing all capitalization. The modern uses of radar are highly diverse, including air and traffic control, radar astronomy, air-defense systems, antimissile systems; marine radars to locate other ships aircraft and meteorological precipitation monitoring, flight control systems, guided missile target locating systems and range-controlled radar. High technology radar systems are associated with digital signal processing and machine learning.
