Pages: 1 - 17
This study provides the socio-economic conditions in correlation with the natural resources and the prevailing demographic characteristics within the natural boundary of Pamba river basin. The study has been carried out using the population statistics of last three decades. This data has been depicted using the Geographical Information system for spatial analysis. The parameters considered for analysis and population model projections are panchayath wise households, total population, population in the age group 0-6, literate population, illiterate population, main workers population, marginal workers population, non-workers population and other thematic layers such as basin boundary, administrative boundaries, land use/ cover map, road-rail network and drainage maps. Various population models were generated to forecast the future population characteristics. The population data of 12 panchayaths which are fully within the Pamba river basin has been taken for analysis and modelling. From this analysis it can be observed that for last decades the socio-economic development of the region is found remarkably good with respect to the living conditions of the people without destroying the land cover pattern of the basin by preserving more than 60% area under forest cover. The study also proves the ability of GIS techniques as a tool in spatial analysis of natural resources management.

Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 1
Pages: 22 - 25
High speed digital Input buffer circuits are used in a wide variety of digital applications. A very common application of these input buffers is in memory devices. Memory circuits needs clean and full level digital data in the memory array. The digital data traveling through various digital circuitries gets distorted by adding delays in the signals like low voltage signal levels, slow fall and rise times, etc. The buffer circuits take these input signals with imperfections and convert them in to full digital logic levels by ‘slicing’ the data signals at correct levels which depends upon the switching point voltage. In this paper layout of CMOS buffer is drawn; first one is auto-generated and second one is semi-custom layout. Then a comparison of various properties of the two layouts is done.

Pages: 26 - 32
This paper presents methodology for the selection of heat exchanger. A deterministic quantitative model based on graph theoretical methodology has been developed for calculating the permanent function and numerical index of heat exchanger selection factors. The permanent function is used for evaluation and analysis of heat exchanger. The heat exchanger (HE) selection factors are divided into subsystems and interactions between subsystems are represented into matrix form. This paper provides a general formula which can be applied to different heat exchangers (HE).

Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 1
Pages: 33 - 38
In this paper, we address the problem of private data publishing, where different attributes for the same set of individuals are held by two parties. Privacy-preserving data publishing addresses the problem of disclosing sensitive data when mining for useful information. In order to achieve this, we use two systems, namely hospital and insurance in which the two party algorithm is applied to get the resultant, shared dataset. The results are compared with k-anonymity algorithm as part of experiments and found to be better and more secure.

Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 1
Pages: 39 - 44
Present study covers different types of expansion joints used in industry. The expansion joints are used to dissipate the energy during contraction or expansion in pipes. Different types of expansion joints are widely used in piping industries. This covers detailed calculation from EJMA (Expansion Joint Manufacturers association), Design, Modelling, and Thermal and Structural analysis of axial type expansion joint. All design process will be performed with aid of FE analysis using ANSYS software.

Mechanical Engineering
Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 1
Pages: 45 - 53
A vaporizer is a device used to vaporize the active ingredients of plant material, commonly cannabis, tobacco, or other herbs or blends for the purpose of inhalation. However, they can be used with pure chemicals when mixed with plant material. This project works on mainly on load acting and analyzing the effect of stress generation on mobile vaporizer supporting structure. For that a experiment is to be carried out on mobile vaporizer and result to be analyzed. Further, by taking into consideration the result obtained and feasibility of application, a solution to increase the efficiency is to be suggested and applied.

Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 1
Pages: 54 - 60
This paper presents the results study of axial compressive strength of reinforced concrete column with FRP wrap. The experimental program included testing of twenty one reinforced concrete column comprised of three series having different slenderness ratio of 3,5,7. The first series consists of seven reinforced concrete circular column having slenderness ratio of 3 and the second series same as first series having slenderness ratio of 5 and the third series also same having slenderness ratio of 7. The Fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) wrapped the column Fully and partially. The FRP wrap shows that the increase in compressive strength of columns and improve the performance of ductility. Test results show that the Jfrp Wrapped column having greater strength than the unconfined column and also shows that the full wrapped specimen increasing greater extent than the partial wrapped specimen. Partially wrapped shows 15% strength than the unconfined column and Fully wrapped specimen having 35% strength than the unconfined specimen.

Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 1
Pages: 61 - 68
Watershed prioritization has gained importance in natural resources management, especially in the context of watershed management. Vazhichal watershed is a constituent of the Neyyar river basin, in Tiruvanathapuram district and covers an area of 91.35km2. The Vazhichal watershed has been divided into eight sub- watersheds, designated as SW1 to SW8, for prioritization purpose. The prioritization of sub-watersheds has been done on the basis of morphometric parameters and land use/land cover categories. Various morphometric parameters have been determined for each sub -watershed and assigned rank on the basis of value/relationship with erodibility so as to arrive at a compound value for final ranking of sub watersheds. Land use /land cover mapping has been carried out using IRS LISS IV data. Based on morphometric land use /land cover analysis the sub-watersheds have been classified into very high, high, medium, and low in terms of priority for conservation and management of natural resources. The prioritization results based on morphomety reveal that only SW6 fall under very high priority, whereas SW2 & SW3 fall under very high priority on the basis of land use /land cover analysis. However on the integration of morphometery and land use /land cover SW1 & SW5 show common priority whereas rest have little or no correlation.

Computer Engineering
Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 1
Pages: 69 - 77
Software Reliability is an important part of software quality. Software reliability is the prospect of the failure free operation of a computer program for a specified period of time in a specified environment. It differs from the hardware reliability in that it reflects design precision, rather than developed perfection. This article gives an overview of Software Reliability which can be categorized into: modeling, measurement and improvement, and then examines different modeling techniques and metrics for software reliability, however, there is no single model that is universal to all the situations. The article will also provide an overview of improving software reliability and then provides various ways to improve software reliability in the life cycle of software development.
