Pages: 1 - 5
Slums and economic growth of the city are two sides of same coin. Slums are not only unavoidable; they are a mark of success of a city. The formation of slums is an essential part of the process of growth and development of a city. An attempt has been made in this paper to determine the factors those are responsible for emergence and growth of the slum in the city. The factors can vary from slum to slum or city to city, according to their surrounding infrastructures, landuses, social or economic condition of the city. Firstly primary survey has been done then SPSS is used as a tool to analyses the factors for selected slums. This method is very efficient to analyses the slum growth prediction on the identified land of the city.

Electronics Engineering
Year: 2016, Volume:3, Issue : 6
Pages: 6 - 11
Intermodulation distortion (IMD) is a common problem in a variety of areas of electronics. In RF communications in particular it represents a difficult challenge to designers who face tougher requirements on component and sub system linearity. This trend is driven in part, by an increase in radio spectrum congestion. This paper aims to identify the mechanisms responsible for generating intermodulation distortion and to examine some of the methods which may be used to measure and combat the problem. The emphasis is largely directed towards radio communications, yet many of the principles are directly applicable to other fields of application. Where appropriate, examples of real test applications are introduced.

Year: 2016, Volume:3, Issue : 6
Pages: 18 - 21
Multi carrier phase opposition disposition pulse width modulation is used for the control of cascaded H bridge multilevel inverter and its different types. Quasi Z source cascaded H bridge multilevel inverter is one type of cascaded H bridge multilevel inverter with boosting of voltage is done across each bridge. The different voltage levels are obtained using switching pulses generated using sinusoidal PODPWM. The voltage boost and inversion are integrated in a single stage. Simulations of the circuit using simple boost control method have been performed in MATLAB/Simulink and the results are verified.

Year: 2016, Volume:3, Issue : 6
Pages: 22 - 29
In Present scenario, any kind of Vehicle transmits Power from the drive systems to differential through the advent use of Drive shafts. Drive Shaft is a shaft for imparting torque from power source or prime mover to machinery. Nearly all of driveshaft is metal shafts or metal tubes that has special joint. The major failure occurred in drive shaft is due vibration, torsional stress and bending stress was experienced by driveshaft due to the weight of the car or misalignment of journal bearing. Drivers will lose control of their vehicle if the drive shafts failure occurs during high speed cornering. And also by varying the material we can reduce the weight of the rotating mass and increase the response. It allows more energy to go into rotating the tires instead of rotating dead weight. The above stated problem can be reduced by adopting the alternative material over it. Our project aims to reduce the weight of the drive shaft and conducting an analysis on it by varying the material in order to reduce the fuel consumption. We are making use of mechanical analysis tool “ANSYS†to conduct the analysis on propeller shaft and coupling. The analysis to be carried out may attain a well-developed Drive shaft which can be utilized in the recent automobile development domain of its first kind.

Manufacturing Engineering
Year: 2016, Volume:3, Issue : 6
Pages: 30 - 35
The hard-turning process is steadily finding its place in modern manufacturing technology and with advance cutting tool materials it can be applied as alternative machining process to grinding providing a more economical way to finish hard surfaces. The main concerns of hard turning are tooling cost and the effect of process on machinability characteristics. The poor selection of process parameters may cause excessive tool wear and increased surface roughness. Hence there is a need to find the right parameters to achieve the right dimensional accuracy, good surface and maximum material removal rate. This paper reviews the effects of various process parameters such as cutting speed, depth of cut and feed rate on the response parameters such as surface roughness, material removal rate and chip reduction coefficient. Through this study main cutting parameters which affect the turning operation are discussed.

Year: 2016, Volume:3, Issue : 6
Pages: 36 - 40
Water is the most essential commodity for the sustenance of life. Water is a chemical substance with the formula H2O.It is found in 3 states liquid, solid and gases. 97% earth surface covered by water. Animals & plants have 60-65 % water in their body. The availability of water on earth are immense in which mostly sea water which is unfit for drinking or irrigation purpose. The amount of fresh water is huge as well, but its distribution over the globe is uneven. The demands for drinking, other domestic needs are increases from 135 to 500 liters a day per person. Water plays an important role in making human life for survive. As man uses water he pollutes it and when the waste water is returned to open bodies it contaminates the natural waters. So, the quality of water and waste water plays an important role for experts in all over the world. Water keeps on cycling endlessly through environment “Hydrological cycleâ€. The paper includes the Chemical quality parameter examined in water and waste waters.

Pages: 41 - 46
We introduce a new concept of generalized metric spaces and extend some well-known related fixed point theorems including Banach contraction principle, Ćirić’s fixed point theorem, a fixed point result due to Ran and Reurings, and a fixed point result due to Nieto and RodrÃguez-López. This new concept of generalized metric spaces and extend some well-known related fixed point theorems recover various topological spaces including standard metric spaces, b-metric spaces, dislocated metric spaces, and modular spaces.

Year: 2016, Volume:3, Issue : 6
Pages: 47 - 50
Rice husk ash is a fibrous waste product of rice refining industry. This product causes severe environmental pollution, which calls for urgent ways of handling the waste. Bagasse ash mainly contains aluminum ion silica, iron &calcium oxides. The ash therefore becomes an industrial waste and poses disposal problems. So few studies have been reported that sugarcane bagasse ash as good pozzolanic material in partial replacement of cement. In this project objective is to study the influence of partial replacement of Portland cement with rice husk ash in concrete subjected to different curing environments. Experimental investigation on acid resistance of concrete inmgso4 solution. The variable factors considered in this study were concrete grade of M35 & curing periods of 7days, 28days, 60days, 90days, 180days of the concrete specimens in 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5% MgSO4 solution. Rice husk ash has been chemically & physically characterized & partially replaced in the ratio of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% by weight.

GAIT Disturbances in Geriatric Patients Based on Activity Recognition and Foot Step Monitoring
Dr. R. M. S. Parvathi
Computer Science and Engineering
Year: 2016, Volume:3, Issue : 6
Pages: 51 - 57
The main aim of this research work is to design and implement a system for Health monitoring and fall detection in elderly people i.e, Geriatric patients accompanied by a system to perform Gait Disturbance Analysis. Health monitoring involves continuous monitoring of health conditions of disabled, elderly patients using many measures and parameters based on Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) technologies. Gait Analysis involves conveying important information about one’s physical and cognitive conditions using inertial sensors. Health monitoring provides a platform for monitoring health conditions like temperature, heartbeat rate of elderly citizens using an intelligent and a versatile health monitoring system that could help the elderly and individuals with disability, live independently in their own homes. If the monitored health conditions are abnormal, a message can be sent via GSM to the people concerned. It serves as a cost effective approach for personal care. An unobtrusive system capable of detecting accidental falls is also designed. The parameters obtained from the above mentioned systems are transmitted via GSM to the concerned health care professionals for smooth monitoring of gait disturbances in the elderly patients.
