  The black cotton soil is known as expansive type of soil which expands suddenly and starts swelling when it comes in contact with moisture. Due to this property, the strength and other properties of Black cotton soil is very poor. To improve its properties, it is necessary to stabilize the Black cotton soil by using different stabilizers. Expansive type of soil shows unpredictable behaviour with different kind of stabilizers. Soil stabilization is a process to treat a soil to maintain, alter or improve the performance of soil. In this project, the potential of burnt brick dust, crushed powdered glass, cement dust, lime powder are added as stabilizing additives in varying percentages (0%, 10% and 15%). The evaluation involves the determination of Particle size distribution (Determination of grain size by sieve analysis), the atterberg’s limits determination (Liquid Limit, plastic Limit and Plasticity Index), specific gravity & Proctor compaction test (Determination of Optimum moisture content and Maximum dry density) of black cotton soil in its natural state (0% addition of stabilizing additives) as well as when mixed with varying proportion of additives such as burnt brick dust, crushed powdered glass, cement dust, lime powder (10% and 15%). The experimental result shows that for various additions of stabilizing additives (10% and 15%) with black cotton soil the Maximum dry density (MDD) of black cotton soil is improving and optimum moisture (OMC) content of black cotton soil is decreasing when compared black cotton soil in its natural state (0% addition of stabilizing additives). The atterberg’s limit values are also decreasing for various additions of stabilizing agents (10% and 20%) with black cotton soil when compared black cotton soil in its natural state.

  Pneumatic actuators are the devices used for converting pressure energy of compressed air into the mechanical energy to perform useful work. In other words, Actuators are used to perform the task of exerting the required force at the end of the stroke or used to create displacement by the movement of the piston. The pressurized air from the compressor is supplied to reservoir. The pressurized air from storage is supplied to pneumatic actuator to do work. The air cylinder is a simple and efficient device for providing linear thrust or straight line motions with a rapid speed of response. Friction losses are low, seldom exceeds 5 % with a cylinder in good condition, and cylinders are particularly suitable for single purpose applications and /or where rapid movement is required. Their chief limitation is that the elastic nature of the compressed air makes them unsuitable for powering movement where absolutely steady forces or motions are required applied against a fluctuating load, or where extreme accuracy of feed is necessary. The air cylinder is also inherently limited in thrust output by the relatively low supply pressure so that production of high output forces can only be achieved by a large size of the cylinders. The objective of this paper is to focus the design, analysis and optimization of critical components of pneumatic actuator to achieve the improved yield or output in terms of torque. This paper gives detailed study of different mechanism, techniques adopted by several researchers in design and optimization of pneumatic actuators. Generally, selection of materials, modifications in mechanism and controlling the variable parameters is the point of focus for the improvement in actuators.

  The activated carbon was prepared from Albizia saman seed shell using Sulphuric acid. Removal of Naphthol green B (NGB) was assessed by varying the parameter like pH, adsorbent dose, concentration, contact time and temperature. The adsorption efficiency of the prepared activated carbon was estimated by using various isotherm and kinetic equations. The isotherm parameters of the process were determined by using Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm equations. The kinetic parameters were predicted with pseudo first order and pseudo second order equations. Thermodynamic parameters were calculated and it was found that the adsorption of Naphthol Green B (NGB) dye using Albizia saman seed shell carbon (ASSSC) was endothermic and adsorption process. The adsorbent material characterization was done by using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and morphology of the surface of adsorbent was identified with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).

  Management and control of traffic flow on urban arterial streets with traffic signals at intersections represent platoons at the given traffic signals. The platoon characterizing variables such as platoon size, inter-platoon headway and platoon speed has been studied extensively under homogeneous traffic conditions but such similar studies have not been conducted adequately considering the diversity of traffic and lack of lane discipline exhibited under heterogeneous traffic conditions. In this study, field investigation is made by means of manually which traffic flows at several locations on Visakhapatnam. After processing the data, traffic flows at each location and vehicle speed distributions on different links are obtained for the platoon dispersion model. Different platoon dispersion models were used to the observed vehicle speeds and travel times. These models showed that the delay and length of queue at the downstream intersection and flow, average travel of vehicles from the upstream intersection. This study enables better understanding of platoon characterizing variables under heterogeneous traffic conditions facilitating enhanced safety and better operation.

  This research work attempts to develop a method to design a high-speed shallow draft vessel. The work is fundamentally performed into three segments: developing a performance prediction method for propeller where the data of a surface piercing propeller is collected from a convenient source, secondly calculation of the resistance of the vessel at designed ship speed and finally the principal parameters of the vessel are determined, where the resistance experienced by the vessel at design ship speed is balanced by the thrust developed by the propeller at the appropriate operating condition. The developed method is a different way to find the principal particulars of a ship which is distinct (reverse method) from the traditional approach. Predicted resistance from the performance prediction method and traditionally calculated resistance from the selected vessel are almost same which indicates that this method is suitable for designing high-speed shallow draft vessel.
