Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 2
Pages: 118 - 125
Wireless ad-hoc network technologies and standards such as IEEE 802.11s (WANET) are efficient, economic and simple to deploy. To increase the performance of ad hoc wireless networks, multiple rendezvous multi-channel MAC protocols are used. But this multi-channel MAC protocols has certain disadvantages such as broadcast issue, busy receiver problem, multi-channel hidden terminal problem etc. By using a proper broadcasting mechanism we can solve many of these problems. In this paper we are focusing on broadcast issue faced by some of the multiple rendezvous protocols and provide a solution for the problem. For this, we are introducing a special interface for broadcasting and a packet is broadcasted according to the node’s behavior. Also we make a system study and comparison between the proposed work and multiple rendezvous protocol.

Pages: 126 - 130
Today we are living in an era of Big Data. Large numbers of services are available to customers; from these services it is difficult for them to choose those that are most appropriate for them. In this scenario a wide variety of service recommender systems will guide the user in selecting the most appropriate one. But these traditional service recommender systems will not work well with Big Data environment; they will experience scalability and efficiency problems as it has to work on huge amount of data. Most of the existing recommender system will provide same rating and ranking of services to different customers. As a solution to this we propose service recommender systems that operate on MapReduce Framework on Hadoop platform. Our service recommender system uses keywords to indicate user preferences and a variation of collaborative filtering algorithm called user based collaborative filtering is used to provide recommendation to customers. It also uses rank boosting approach for combined preferences, which will help to rank the results according to the preference of the current user and produce the recommendation list accordingly.

Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 2
Pages: 131 - 136
Now a day the importance of “Big Data†analytics is increasing. And the amount of data available over the internet has increased. Here the Hadoop MapReduce has an important role. it is very difficult to scale the inter cloud data transfer. Due to the latency it is very hard to transfer the data through multiple clouds. Here a framework is used; the data is processed in the internal cloud (IC) and external cloud (EC). These features are used to realize the inter-cloud MapReduce. This framework is used to meet the job deadlines as this meets the service level objective(SLO). Inorder to reduce the execution time cache manager is introduced to BStream. By using this we can save the data for the future and the future request for the data can be served faster.

Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 2
Pages: 137 - 141
One of the effective mechanisms for reducing the cost of data communication in wireless ad hoc networks is energy efficient routing. Mainly the total energy is computed for end to end traversal and then the routes are identified. This paper considers two algorithms Reliable Minimum Energy Cost Routing (RMECR) and Reliable Minimum Energy Routing (RMER) and compares the performance of both. RMECR addresses reliability, energy efficiency and prolonging network lifetime by considering the remaining battery energy of nodes as well as the link quality. RMER find routes that consume minimum energy for traversal. Both of these can be used for end to end traversal and hop to hop traversal. Comparison results show that RMECR performs better than RMER and when will further develop a new algorithm EERCR uses clustering technique ,it will enhance the performance.

Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 2
Pages: 142 - 154
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) consist of numerous autonomous sensor nodes devices are spatially distributed to sense and monitor various changes of the environment surrounding us. Such devices are also capable to communicate in wireless sensor networks and that can also sense, monitor, transmit, receive or process numerous data like pressure, temperature, sound, motion, humidity etc. Sensor networks are collection of sensor nodes which co-operatively send sensed data to base station. As sensor nodes are battery driven, an efficient utilization of power is essential in order to use networks for long duration hence it is needed to reduce data traffic inside sensor networks, reduce amount of data that need to send to base station. The main goal of data aggregation algorithms is to gather and aggregate data in an energy efficient manner so that network lifetime is enhanced. Power consumption in case of processing of data is less as compared to the transmission of data. Therefore, it is preferable to do in-network-processing of data and reduce packet size. One approach of data aggregation after data gathering is to use distributed system architecture. Wireless sensor networks have limited computational power and limited memory and battery power which leads to increased complexity of applications developed for them. Moreover, this often results in applications that are closely coupled with network protocols. Clustering is a key technique used to extend the lifetime of a sensor network by reducing energy consumption. In this paper, a fault tolerant and energy efficient data aggregation technique on wireless sensor networks is proposed. This work augments the data aggregation scheduling using Connected Dominating Set (CDS) by inculcating energy efficient techniques to enhance the network lifetime through preventing uneven consumption of battery power in the wireless motes. The simulation is carried out using MATLAB and results produced are in agreement with those of the analytical model.

Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 2
Pages: 155 - 158
Resource allocation and sharing is one of the core foci of economic research. Whenever one group of people has access to, or can provide certain resources, and another group is interested in consuming these resources, mechanisms can facilitate such an exchange. Such mechanisms can include monetary based exchange, exchange based on credits, bilateral exchange etc. Here in order to facilitate this sharing mechanism, the pre-established trust formed through friend relationships within a Social network is used to form a dynamic cloud-like platform, where the sharing of resources occurs through “friend†relationship. The users can have preference with whom they need to share their resources. Preference mechanism is provided through feedback integration where the preference is calculated automatically, unlike the traditional method where it is provided manually, which is difficult in larger user scenario. Feedback is provided by the already existing users. For the matchmaking between consumers and providers, Deferred acceptance algorithm is used which provides a stable match among the users. Feedback Integration mechanism is used to provide ranking between friends initially which reduces the load in providing the ranks manually especially in case of large number of users.

Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 2
Pages: 159 - 161
Liquid dispenser machine is commonly found in our daily life in different places like offices, bus stands, railway stations, petrol pumps. In this thesis we are going to present a pneumatic operated oil dispenser machine. Using a pneumatic system interface, we can effectively increase operator accuracy, reduce training time and improve overall efficiencies, thus keeping cost down a properly designed pneumatic system interface can improve overall accuracy. Present liquid dispenser machine available in industries are costly, complex and hard in design and fabrication. Main requirement from this machine is its metering or measuring quality. Accuracy of measuring is very less in various machines. Hence, the basic theme behind this research is to improve these disadvantages of oil dispenser machine. The oil dispenser machine presently available is based on practice and past experience of the employer in his working field and also, its efficiency declines at a greater rate after a period of time. By surveying the present machines and comparing their present limitations, new model will be fabricated so that designs data can be obtained to formulate experimental data based model for this process. The design of model will be so simple that it can be adopted easily by small industries & automobile workshop. Easy technology will help to reduce metering problem. The present work reports the design & fabrication of oil measuring & dispensing machine which is used in small industries & automobile workshop.

Pages: 162 - 168
In medical science, digital image processing has relevance as several techniques such as MRI, CT-scan, laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeries and cancer diagnosis tools are being used currently. We present an approach for segmentation of images which are having vague boundaries between regions. The traditional segmentation techniques exhibit weak performance on edgeless images such as histology images. In contrast, the recently proposed segmentation framework exposed better results on histology dataset. It modeled images as the occlusions of realizations of textures. This concept directed us to suggest a variety of this framework. Our method achieves segmentation through convolution, factorization and deconvolution using the histograms of filter responses instead of color distributions. Based on the theoretical study, the system reveals the occlusion of textures in histology images and attains the segmentation in a faster manner. Also, we introduce a method to diagnose cancer by looking for abnormal mitosis and mutations. The histology image is classified as normal and cancer affected, for the diagnosis.

Year: 2015, Volume:2, Issue : 2
Pages: 169 - 174
Multi-storeyed buildings with open (soft) ground floor are inherently vulnerable to collapse due to earthquake load, even then their construction is still widespread in the developing nations. An investigation has been performed to study the behaviour of the columns at ground level of multi-storeyed buildings with soft ground floor as satellite bus stop and floating columns in the upper stories subjected to earthquake loading. The structural action of masonry infill panels of upper floors has also been taken into account by modelling them as diagonal struts. Shear wall is one of the most commonly used lateral load resisting in high rise building. In this study building is modelled with different shapes of shear wall with top and bottom soft storey. Static and dynamic analysis is carried out by using ETABS 2013. The comparison of these models for different parameters like Storey drift and storey acceleration is carried out.
