  Among the many irremediable wounds that man is inflicting upon the environment, the improper disposal of waste plastic is growing into an alarming issue of concern. Despite its amazing properties of strength, durability and its light weight, plastics have a major drawback that they can take up to 500-1000 years to naturally degrade. Waste plastic affects humans, animals and marine life, as it increases pollution enormously. It also causes soil infertility where dumped. Plastics are made up of long chain molecules called polymers. They are light weight polymers of carbon along with hydrogen, nitrogen, Sulphur and other organic and inorganic elements. Plastic pyrolysis involves subjecting plastic to high temperature of 4000C to 4500C, in absence of oxygen. During pyrolysis, Plastic breaks down into smaller molecules of pyrolysis oil, pyrolysis gas and carbon black. Plastic pyrolysis end products are hydrocarbons. In the present paper the work carried out so far is discussed.

  The pavement layers to be laid over sub grade soil starts off with the estimation of sub grade Bearing capacity and the volume of traffic to be carried. Design of the pavement layers are highly dependent on the strength of the sub grade soil over which they are going to be laid. Sub grade strength is mostly expressed in terms of CBR (California Bearing Ratio). Feeble sub grade essentially requires course layers whereas stronger sub grade goes well with lean pavement layers. The sub grade is always subjected to change in saturation level due to precipitation, capillary action, flood or abrupt rise of water table and frost action due to climate. Change in sub grade causes change in the sub grade strength. And it becomes utterly essential for an engineer to understand the exact nature of dependence of sub grade strength on moisture variation. An understanding of the dependence of the CBR value of local soils on water content will contribute towards better design and maintenance practices. Normally CBR test is an easy and well adopted method conducted on soil samples in-situ or in laboratory to measure the strength of sub grade. However, many other tests are also considered for assessing the sub grade bearing capacity.

  The Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) performance is purely depends on the various geometrical and operating parameters. In this study a numerical investigation has been carried out on a single flow channel Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) with an operating cell potential of 0.4V to analyze the various performance and operating characteristics likely current density, anode water concentration, cathode water concentration, cathode oxygen concentration, anode hydrogen concentration, pressure distribution of reactant gases at gas diffusion layer, velocity distribution of reactant gases at gas diffusion layer at an operating temperature of 453K.

  As we know from past records, many of reinforced concrete elevated water tanks were heavily damages or collapsed during the earthquakes all over the world. General observations are pointing out the reasons towards the failure of supporting system which reveals that the supporting system of the elevated tanks has more critical importance than the other structural parts of tanks. Most of the damages observed during the seismic events arise was might be due to the lack of knowledge regarding the proper behaviour of supporting system of the tank against dynamic effect and also due to improper geometrical selection of staging patterns. The main objective of this study is to understand the behaviour of supporting system which is more effective under different earthquake characteristics or earthquake zones with STAAD. Pro V8i software. A sample of a reinforced concrete elevated water tank (Intz type), with 900 cubic meters and with a height of 18m from ground level is considered. Here two different staging patterns such as radial bracing and cross bracing are compared with basic supporting system for various fluid filling conditions. The seismic zones of Zone-III & Zone-V and the corresponding earthquake characteristics have been taken from IS 1893 (PART 1)-2002 & draft code IS 1893 (Part 2). Consequently the water mass has been considered in two parts as impulsive and convective suggested by GSDMA guidelines. Tank responses including base shear, overturning moment and roof displacement have been observed, and then the results have been compared and contrasted. The result shows that the structure responses are exceedingly influenced by the presence of water and the earthquake characteristics. Finally study discloses the importance of suitable staging configuration to remain withstands against heavy damage or failure of elevated water tank during seismic events.

  Now a days the production of cement is highly coastly and significantly affects the environment. the CO2 has increased manifold over the last decade or so leading to global warming .thus it is the need of the how to contro the usage of cement so that its production can be reduced optimal usage the present study has been done to find the optimal usage industrial by products fly ash, silicafume, limesludge to be as substitutes of cement Fly ash, a byproduct from the thermal power plant and it is a pozzolanic material. Silica fume as very fine non crystalline silica produced in blast furnace as by product of the production of elemental silicon or alloys containing silicon .Lime sludge is generated from paper, acetylene, sugar, fertilizer, sodium chromate and soda ash industries Attempts have been made to study the properties of self-compacted concrete and to investigate properties of fly ash, silica fume, lime sludg and its suitability of those properties to enable them to be used as partial replacement materials for cement in concrete Experimental investigation on strength aspects like compressive, flexural, and split tensile strengths of self-compacting concrete (SCC) containing different levels of flyash, silica fumes, lime sludge, and workability tests for different mineral admixtures (slump, L –box, V-funnel and T50 ) are carried out .the methodology adopted is that mineral fly ash is replaced by ((5%,10%,15%,20%,25%,30%), silica fume (5%,10%,15%,20%,25%,30%), lime sludge (5%,10%,15%,20%, 25%,30%) in cement and performance is measured and compared. Hardned tests carried out by two different combinations of these three pozzolanic materials 1.(flyash+silica fume+limesludge) is replaced by(25%+5%+0%, 20%+5%+5%, 15%+5%+10%, 10%+5%+15%) in cement and performance is measured. 2. (silica fume+fly ash) is replaced by (2.5 %S+5%F, 5%S+10%F , 7.5%S+15%F, 10%S+20%F, 12%S+15%F ) in cement and performance is measured.

  One of the undesirable emissions from diesel engine is NOx emission. In order to reduce NOx emission exhaust gas recirculation is used. Regulations to reduce NOx emissions continue to become more and more stringent year by year. Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is one of the techniques used to reduce nitrogen oxides because it lowers flame temperature in the combustion chamber. However as NOx reduces, hydrocarbon (HC) emissions and smoke level increases. As the EGR rate increases the engine operation becomes instable and there is a little reduction in thermal efficiency. Alcohol fumigation is a technique used for reducing emissions and improving the thermal efficiency of the engine. An experimental set up is fabricated to facilitate EGR and ethanol fumigation in the inlet duct of the engine. Engine performance, NOx and HC emissions without EGR, with EGR and with EGR and ethanol fumigation are presented in this work.
