Pages: 1 - 7
Bottom Ash produced by coal-fired boilers can be used in variety of construction and manufacturing applications which include structural and engineering fill, cement raw material, aggregates for concrete and asphalt products and general reclamation purposes. Physically, bottom ash is typically grey to black in color, is quite angular, and has a porous surface structure. Over a decade ago, removal of bottom ash in dry state was considered impractical. With the increased use of bottom ash, there is a greater interest in applying this in construction practices. This paper presents the experimental investigations carried out to study the effect of use of bottom ash (the coarser material, which falls into furnace bottom in modern large thermal power plants and constitute about 20% of total ash content of the coal fed in the boilers) as a replacement of fine aggregates. The various strength properties of concrete such as the compressive strength, flexural strength and splitting tensile strength are studied. The strength development for various percentages (0-50%) replacement of fine aggregates with bottom ash are carried out which can easily be equated to the strength development of normal concrete at various ages.

Innovative ideas for development for developing countries
Year: 2017, Volume:4, Issue : 7
Pages: 13 - 16
In today's -world, Tourism is an important socio-economic activity. It promotes national integration which helps in improving infrastructure, creates employment opportunities and augments foreign exchange earnings. In an area where a place of tourist attraction is located, there exist a tourist economy besides the domestic area economy. It also lends helping hand to cultural activities. However in order to fulfill all the pleasure from tourism there are also many problems that its beauty and variety of cultural and natural environment. Its isolation from the outside world, insurgency, political instability, inaccessibility, lack of transportation and infrastructure facilities and ruggedness topography are some of the important impediments coming in the way of development. The problems are multi-dimensional. During research, various options and feedbacks regarding the development of tourism were collected from the household/local people and local policy maker. Leaving apart the problems there also lies the huge potential of tourism in the area. With the recent festival of Sangai festival 2017 in Moirang as the curtain raiser marked the opening and beginning of future aspect of tourism.

Year: 2017, Volume:4, Issue : 7
Pages: 17 - 23
This paper presents an electric vehicle application which is powered by an induction motor drive which is fed by the SPWM triggered five level NPC inverter. Multilevel inverters can transfer high amount of power with low total harmonic distortion due to high number of switches each switch will take up voltage stress equally thus low chances of breakdown. Here we are using sinusoidal pulse width modulation technique which is simple and easy to work out in inverter triggering. Induction motor is a simple motor which is much reliable than all other motors, we are using a three phase induction motor which is a self-starting motor with low losses. Electric Vehicle is the load for induction motor, due to excessive pollution and depletion of natural resources these EVs are getting much popular. The Simulink model of overall system is done and the simulations are performed for various conditions using MATLAB/SIMULINK and the results are obtained and studied.

Civil Engineering
Year: 2017, Volume:4, Issue : 7
Pages: 24 - 29
The use of alternative sand like silica sand, artificial sand is a natural step in solving part of depletion of natural aggregates. The experimental investigation on replacement of different material for concrete making started before half a century. Concrete made from silica sand and artificial sand as fine aggregate was studied for compressive strength, Split tensile strength and Flexural strength. So in this project, Silica sand and artificial sand had been used as replacement of fine aggregate by different percentage for making concrete of M-30 grade, with w/c ratio 0.42. The percentage replacement will be 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% with natural fine aggregates. For making concrete OPC cement is used. Cubes, beams and cylinders will be casted and tested compressive strength, Split tensile strength, and flexural strength. Optimum replacement of silica sand and artificial sand can be used in concrete for high compressive strength, Split tensile strength, and flexural strength.

Pages: 30 - 39
Use of non-renewable energy sources for drying of agricultural products is an expensive process at rural scale. Drying for agricultural products are one of the most attractive and cost effective application of solar energy. Therefore an appropriate technology for drying of agricultural products has been developed and its performance for drying of turmeric rhizomes has been evaluated. A forced convection solar dryer was developed. The system is capable of generating an adequate and continuous flow of hot air temperature between 55-600C. The turmeric rhizomes were successfully dried in the developed solar dryer. Turmeric rhizomes were dried with pretreatment (boiling in water for 30 min). Experimentation was carried out on boiled turmeric rhizomes with forced convection and with natural convection in the same set up. The experimental analysis showed that the natural convection solar drying takes 8 days (considering 9 sunshine hours from 10am to 6pm). Whereas forced convection drying required 6 days (considering 9 sunshine hours from 10am to 6pm) for drying of turmeric rhizomes. It is observed that turmeric dried in solar dryers take lesser time to reach the safe level of moisture content for storage when compared to open sun drying and the quality of turmeric produced are far more superior.

Today’s technology improving daily different aspect in order to provide flexible and safe movement for blind people. The blind people used currency recognition blind walking stick. to find out any currency or obstacle are present in front of them for any type of movement or identification blind people uses their own senses such as touch or sound to identify the currency or obstacle. Money related transaction is an important part of our day to day life. With the consideration of blind people, it is somewhat difficult task to identify the currency or any obstacle. Even though denomination based on size may or may not be identify but it almost difficult to identify the whether the note is original or fake. So to overcome this problem we have designed the currency recognition blind walking stick for blind people.

Year: 2017, Volume:4, Issue : 7
Pages: 46 - 49
The Arduino based gaussmeter is used to measure magnetic field using Hall Effect sensor. In this project the 12-bit MCP3201 (Microchip Technology Analog to Digital Converter) is used. The sensitivity of 12-bit ADC is 819 and operating voltage is 1.22mv.Now the circuit is generally works at 3v & 5v. The WSH 315 Hall Effect sensor has three terminals vcc, ground and vdd. So, one Gauss means 1.5mv.The LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is used to shows the magnetic field in CGS (Centimeter Gram Second) system. The device is used in physic lab for conducting magnetic field experiment.

Pages: 50 - 54
This paper is designed to develop a geosynchronous satellite dish positioning system which can be operated by using a remote control. Satellites are controlled by a ground station antenna (dish) an earth that sends commands and receive information from the satellite. Earlier to get the maximum signal of a particular frequency the dish is need to be positioned to the exact angle manually. Because of the difficulty of adjusting manually, this proposed system in adjusting the dish position by using IR remote control Remote control acts as a transmitter whose data is received by an IR receiver which is interfaced to a microcontroller of PIC 16F877A. The remote control sends coded data to the receiver whose output is then sent to the microcontroller. Basic pro language is also used to implement this system. The microcontroller sends the control signals to the motor through an interface known as relay driver.
