Any software project underneath development has inherent risk. Most of the software's fails due to over budget, delay within the delivery of the software's, poor performance and so on. Software risk can be quantified as a mixture of the probability that a software system might fail and the severity of the damages caused by the failure. Software risk management is a software engineering follow with processes, methods, and tools for managing risks in a project. It provides disciplined surroundings for intent decision-making to assess ceaselessly what will go wrong; determine what risks are important to cope with; and implement initiative to deal with those risks, this paper recognizes the expanding role of risk management in present software systems and aims at providing additional support in this area. The objective of the paper is to explain the concept of risk and to develop its role at intervals the software development process and to introduce the utilization of risk management as a way of identifying & controlling risk in software development.
