Exfoliated Vermiculite is a versatile lightweight material and it is used as an calcium silicate boards, roof and floor screeds and insulating concretes, loose fill insulation etc. Study on Vermiculite replacing natural sand is investigated. Design mix having the mix proportion 1:3 with the water cement ratio 0.5. In these specimen the vermiculite is partially replaced by sand at the range of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30% to the total weight of sand. The Superplasticizer Conplast SP430 is added to the samples at a range of 1.5% to the weight of cement. The properties of the mortar such as compression strength, split tensile, water absorption, sorptivity for 28 days of curing were determined. |
